Spurious Trip

A Safety system shall not be activated spuriouly, i.e. without the presence of a predefined process demand in the equipment under control. Such a false alarm is called a spurious trip (ST).

low signal rating can cause spurious trip.
Contractor/Vendor shall clarify/confirm that selection and installation of pressure switch along with
barrier is suitable for process conditions, operating parameters and area classification.
Contractor/Vendor shall confirm that spurious trips will not be initiated.
